Summer School

Troy Continuing Education offers summer opportunities for all ages: Elementary, Middle School and High School.  We also provide summer C.A.R.E offerings, and Middle School Day Camps.

Camp C.A.R.E.

CARE SUMMER PROGRAM:
The C.A.R.E. summer program is called Camp C.A.R.E.. Registration for summer 2019, begins March 25, 2019 online. Click HERE for information on the 2019 Camp C.A.R.E. program. Families may choose full or part-time schedules. Minimum three day enrollment is required per week. The program includes arts and crafts, outdoor play, cooking, gym time, small and large groups, field trips and more! Children K-5th grade can enroll. Programs are located at Bemis, Leonard, and Wass Elementary Schools and are open 7am-6pm.

REGISTRATION:
Registration for Camp C.A.R.E. is per week.  Summer Preschool offerings are full day/full week. 
 
 
PRESCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM:
Summer Preschool programs are available for students, ages 3-5 years old. Classes are located at Leonard Elementary.  Click HERE for summer information.
 
FIRST FRIENDS SUMMER PROGRAM:

GRASP Summer Correspondence

GRASP is a summer correspondence program in Reading and Mathematics for Kindergarten through 8th grade students, which was developed by curriculum specialists in the Grand Rapids public schools. The curriculum is aligned with MEAP, state, and national standards. Students will receive their packet of 9 modules before school is dismissed for the summer. Students complete each module and mail it to The Scoring Center where it is evaluated. The results are then returned to the participants. It is recommended that students register for the grade they have just completed.

Middle School

Middle School Summer Learning focuses in on math, reading, and academic success strategies.  There are also academic enrichment classes offered in other disciplines.  To register for these classes online, click on the register now button in the top corner of this page. Registration is also available at the Niles Center. 

​Normal refund policy applies until 2 weeks before the start of class, at that time, NO REFUNDS will be given.

High School

2020 Summer School (HSSS) - In-seat and/or Virtual classes

LOCATION TBD, DATES TENTATIVE

  • Registration for 2020 HSSS will be LIVE March 1  
  • Brochures will be available online and in all middle and high schools by mid-February.
  • Ask your counselor for more information.
  • Be sure to review class choices with your counselor
  • You can take a maximum of two classes, any combination of in-seat and virtual.

 

  • ​Session 1:  Tuesday, June 16 through Wednesday, July 8 (NO CLASS JULY 3)
  • Session 2:  Thursday, July 9 through Thursday, July 30
  • Online registration begins March 1 at 12:01am.
  • Mail-In/Drop-Off registration begins March 9 at the Niles Center.
  • Pre-registration ends June 10. Walk-in registration at the Niles Center ends at 3:00pm and online registration ends at 11:00pm.
  • Walk In registration starts at the Summer School Office, June 15, beginning at 8:00am

Option 2: Virtual (Registration)

Virtual class final exams have to be taken in person:  If you have two classes, one final has to be done before July 7 and the second by July 30.  If you have only one virtual class the final has to be taken by July 28.  The dates for virtual classes range from June 16-July 30.  If you are taking two courses, one must be completed by July 7 to start the second course on time. *Be sure to review class choices with your counselor*

The Troy School District is pleased to offer an, After-School Tutoring Program for elementary and middle school students. To provide the highest quality tutoring experience, all tutors are a part of the excellent, Troy School District educational community. 

TSD TUTORS SUPPORT CLASSROOM LEARNING, Tutors will contact student's homeroom teacher. PLEASE BRING CURRICULUM FROM STUDENT'S CLASSROOM: Example: math book, reading books, etc. (SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL WILL ALSO BE PROVIDED).

In an effort to make tutoring more flexible for families, we are moving to a PUNCH CARD system. Families will be able to work with their tutor to create flexible tutoring schedules that work with the family and the tutor.

Punch Cards can be purchased for:
  • (6) sessions (55 minutes) at $30/session=$180.00 
  • (12) sessions (55 minutes) at $27/session=$324.00 
 
Punch Card Registration Process:
  1. Select 6 or 12 session Punch Card
  2. If you have been working with a tutor, please input their name in the NOTES section of the registration.  If you have not been working with a tutor, leave blank, a tutor will be assigned to you.
  3. Punch Cards can be used for more than one child. If 2 children will be using one card, please add the 2nd child's name, grade, subject to the NOTES section of the registration.
  4. A tutor will be assigned to you. The tutor will contact you and together you will work out your tutoring schedule. Tutoring is available at many of the district's elementary and middle schools. 
  5. YOU MUST BRING YOUR RECEIPT  TO YOUR FIRST TUTORING SESSION.  At the first session, the tutor will provide you with your PUNCH CARD. (one punch will be made for each completed session).
