The
C.AR.E. Company is a program designed to meet the needs of those Troy
School District families who need child care during the hours before
and after school. The program began in September, 1985. The
C.A.R.E. Company serves the entire school district, with centers at
each elementary school.
The
C.A.R.E. Company programming emphasizes a neighborhood-like atmosphere,
free choice, and opportunities to participate in developmentally
appropriate and enriching activities. Activities include art
projects, board games, gym and playground time, cooking, computers and
supervised free play. A quiet place is set aside for students who
wish to complete homework assignments. Opportunities to
strengthen social skills are fostered, as children interact with each
other.
The
C.A.R.E. Company is licensed by the Michigan Department of Human
Services, and must meet the requirements of the state regarding record
keeping and procedures. Because the department has a commitment
of offering a quality program to meet the needs of Troy families, it
has been the practice of the C.A.R.E. Company to exceed the standards
set by the state.
